Giving up seats in Japan to people who need it

I think Singaporeans give up their seats more than Japanese. Perhaps salarymen in Japan are too tired and just want to sleep or look at their smartphones...

    1. Well… could be due to the highly competitive seats for long journeys over an hour!

  2. I don't think there is any good excuse not to give up your seat :(

    1. Either sleeping or looking at smartphone…
Japanese in my FB feedback that they try to avoid eye contact because they are afraid of intruding other people's privacy or something…
Then other foreigners feedback about the long journey and elderly refusing their seats when they give up for them...

  3. I think the salary man didn't want to have to choose between the old man, the expecting mother, or the mother holding the baby. Lol I've been in situations like this... it's really difficult to choose who to give the seat up to. For me, it was between two elderly people. I got up and walked to the other end of the trolley without knowing if any of them took the seat. I was hoping someone else would get up for the other person, but I could not put anyone on the spot. Hehe I guess I think about things like this too much.
    Thanks for sharing!! ^_^

    1. Haha, it is fair game after you get up, but who knows maybe another young person took up the seats instead! It happened to one of my readers XD

  4. I try to give my seat by half the time they refuse… they don't want to make me feel like I'm being burdened... ㄟ(ツ)ㄏ

    1. I find that part of the reason why people eventually gave up offering seats too!
